Volunteering

Running a successful youth lacrosse program requires more than just coaches and players. Significant parent involvement is essential to create a positive, organized, and supportive experience for every athlete.

Parent volunteers help keep costs reasonable, ensure games run smoothly, support our coaches, and build the strong community that makes Middleton Youth Lacrosse special. Whether you can help at a single home game or take on a larger role for the season, your contribution makes a real difference.

Middleton Youth Lacrosse has a mandatory volunteer or buyout requirement for families. Details for the current season are provided during registration and communicated to families at the start of the season.

Across all age groups, we rely on parents for the following:

• Assistant Coach / Bench Coach – Support the head coach during practices and games.
• Team Manager – Handle team communications, logistics, and coordination with the coaching staff.
• Scorekeeper – Keep the official score at home games.
• Timekeeper – Operate the game clock at home games.
• Field setup and breakdown for home games and events.
• Support at tournaments and special events (including Youth Night).

These roles appear on every program page because they are critical to running a high-quality program. Additional opportunities (board positions, event help, equipment support, etc.) arise throughout the year.

Middleton Youth Lacrosse uses the Crossbar volunteer system so families can easily view available shifts, sign up, and track their involvement.

Important: Volunteer signup is available only through a web browser on the Middleton Youth Lacrosse website. It is not available in the Crossbar mobile app.



1. Log in to the Middleton Youth Lacrosse website (middletonlacrosse.com) using the same account you use for registration.
2. Go to your Account (or Dashboard) and select Volunteer from the menu.
3. You will see a summary of any required, completed, committed, and remaining hours, along with available Volunteer Sessions.
4. Click More Information on a session that interests you.
5. Find an open shift and click the green + icon. Select the adult in your account who will complete the shift.
6. Once signed up, the shift will appear on your Family Calendar. You will also receive a reminder email approximately 24 hours before your shift (including any role instructions).

Hours are automatically logged the morning after a completed shift. You can return to the Volunteer page at any time to view your progress.

If you need to cancel, return to the shift and use the red – icon (cancellations may be locked within a set window before the shift). Contact your team manager or the club if you need assistance close to the date.
