Coaches Code of Conduct

The Middleton Youth Lacrosse Club (MYLC) follows the USA Lacrosse guidelines for coach conduct to create a supportive, safe, and positive environment for all players. This code outlines expectations for you as a coach, including promoting player development through fun and skill-building; modeling respect and sportsmanship for players, families, and opponents; communicating openly and fairly; prioritizing safety and inclusivity; and complying with all rules and laws. It also prohibits negative behaviors such as harassment, discrimination, profanity, favoritism, substance use, or pressuring players.

The purpose of the code is to promote integrity, fairness, and a welcoming atmosphere in lacrosse, emphasizing your role in fostering respect, growth, and enjoyment for young athletes rather than just competition outcomes. This helps ensure the program remains focused on positive development and experiences for everyone involved.

If you do not follow the code, consequences may include warnings, suspension, or removal from coaching duties, as determined by club leaders. That is why all coaches sign the code—to commit to these standards and understand the importance of upholding them for the benefit of the club.
